Discuss the importance of Technical Writing for professional careers. How can it help them in their career? What specific skills can be learned? Why is it worth the time and money? How can this class enhance a person’s resume?

A person's success in any career-field is often underscored by their ability to speak and conduct themselves in a professional manner.  The ability to convey thoughts and feelings in an effective and intelligent manner leaves a lasting impression on those around you, either for better or for worse.  Writing is often an overlooked aspect of communication. A skilled writer has the ability to effectively consolidate their thoughts and ideas. Thoughts often come in jumbled, loosely arranged packages that need to quickly be arranged and organized if the person is to convey a complete thought.  Writing skills help a person organize ideas, creatively brainstorm, and explore higher level vocabulary than they otherwise would normally use.  Technical writing takes all the most critical fundamentals from creative writing and sifts them down to what really count in the career and workplace fields.  A person can see a marked improvement in their resume writing, interviewing skills, workplace interactions, inter-office communications, and beyond.  As with most things in this world a person can expect that these skills will come at a cost.  To see it as a cost is short-sighted, rather it should be viewed as an investment both in a person's life now and for their future to come.  The time investment is short as well.  A person will always be confronted with choices in their life that will have lasting effects.  The decision to pursue education is not for everyone, but for those who choose to their career and life will always be rewarded down the road.
